Kimberley Photo-workshop 15 - 25 April 2008

Nick Rains and Charlie Waite would like to thank all those who took part in our Kimberley Adventure. Everyone saw an improvement in their image making and were able to return home with some memorable (see below) pictures of this remote wilderness area of Western Australia.

"The locations were remarkable. There was more potential along the seashore (Cape Leveque) than I expected.

Charlie's presence was a real boon. I found his well articulated discussions and suggestions about the art of particular shots very helpful. The slide show at the end was fun and educational.

Other things which stand out are some learnings which improved my image taking, live view in my camera, the astonishing and delicate light of the beauty light, shifting technique for high resolution images, take a variety of images of the same subject, travel in first then photograph back to camp, and to relax."

“I thoroughly enjoyed the Kimberley Tour. It was very well organised and I was given much needed technical guidance. I particularly appreciated the encouragement and inspirational discourse directed towards “seeing” the infinite possibilities for photographic opportunities. The workshop on the last day was excellent. ”

"The Kimberley tour was fantastic. Photographic opportunities were everywhere, if only you could see them! I know I missed several, but all is not lost - I will just have to come back!! The tuition and support during the tour was excellent, the opportunity to immerse yourself in image-making over a sustained period really does reap rewards. Seeing other peoples' work also opens your eyes.

As I review my images the learning process continues, I can see where improvements can be made in several aspects of my photography. I feel encouraged and inspired to go out and make more photographs. Most important of all, the Kimbeley tour was fun! Thanks to Charlie, Nick and Janelle, and everyone on the tour."
